How to Make Your Wedding Unique: Part 1 – It’s All in the Details

In general, weddings are all pretty similar.  There’s a ceremony, food, reception, and dancing.  When planning their wedding, every bride and groom should take a second to ask themselves “what makes our wedding different from all the rest?”.  There are a lot of answers to this question, which is why today is the first part of a series of posts I’ll be doing on how to make your wedding unique.  Check back over the next few weeks for more of these posts!

Weddings are filled with tiny details.  Flowers, rings, centerpieces, decor, all of these things add to the look and feel of a wedding.  Unique details are something that can set your wedding apart from all the other weddings your guests have been to.  The trick is, finding the perfectly unique details that reflect both you and your groom and give your wedding the look and feel you are going for.

Another thing to remember is it’s not just the details in the decor that can make a wedding unique, but everything from the flowers to the attire can include special details.  Tie a locket around your bouquet, or wear a special pin or jewelry to honor loved ones that are no longer with us.  Use an accent flower or something else in your bouquets that not many people have seen before (I just had a bride who used cotton in her flower arrangements).  The most important thing to remember is that there are no rules or boundaries.  Your wedding is just that, YOUR wedding. Think outside the box and make your guests say “wow, I’ve never seen that before!”.

Finally, don’t forget to find a photographer who is going to capture all of these amazing wedding details you worked so hard on!  Make sure they are aware of the details ahead of time so they know what needs to be captured and can figure out the best way to photograph your day so that these unique touches are reflected in your images.
